CLOWNS
(c)1982 Bally-Midway, published by Commodore Business Machines
with three alternate control input set-ups for emulator use
--------------------------------------------
The file "Clowns" is the original program set up to be controlled
via two separate control knob devices, one for each player, as
the arcade machines had in the early 1980s. CBM used such
"paddles" (named for their use in the famous Atari "Pong" game)
as the C-64 could have two sets of two knobs, one plugged in each
of its joysticks ports 1 and 2. For use in emulators where the
machine has no longer these devices handy, the program has been
made to have Player 1 control via a joystick and Player 2 via the
mouse that normally comes with the PC. Both devices in effect
emulate the "paddles."
In the case of the CCS64 emulator the input setting should be as
follows:
Control Port 1 Paddles
PC Gameport 1 +
PC mouse
Control Port 2 Joystick
PC Gameport 1
----------------------------------------------
There are two alternate programs:
"Clowns/Paddles" and "Clowns/Joystick"
to allow operating the program entirely from either a mouse or
from a joystick. Both players use then the same device in turn.
(The emulator settings can be same as above, or with only Port 1
OR Port 2 set, depending on the hardware available.)
These alternatives are provided for two reasons:
(1) Users may not like the operation of a joystick in place of
the original "paddles"
(2) A specific user may not have a choice with the hardware
he/she has available.
--------------------------------------------------
Operation of the game itself is self-explanatory.
