Race/Color selection:

Select the color you want to play, and then a race. All races are available
except for the computer race. For beginners, use the flappers, and things
will go a little easier.

Land Selection:

For the first round of land selection, select a plot of land that has 3
mountains in it, or one of the "river" plots. Each plot of land has its
certain advantages:

mountains: provide smithore, the more mountains the more smithore. Smithore
is used to build mules, the work horses of the planet irata.
clear land: are great for producing energy. Energy is needed to produce food
            smithore or crystite.
river plots:provide tons of food. You can grow food in other plots, clear
being the best followed by the mountainous lots, but the river
plots are by far the best.

Crystite: can be found on any non river plot. You must be playing the tour
nament level and use the assayer to prospect for it. Think of it
          as diamonds or something

First Turn:
You will be in the shop, with your man waiting to do something. Buy a mule
by walking into the mule section, and then outfit the mule to do its
particular job. The outfitters from right to left are food, energy, smithore
and crystite. After your mule is outfitted, go to your plot and center your
man (not the mule) over the house in the plot. Press your button and the
mule will be installed.) Once you have placed your mule, hunt around for
the mountain wampus, a little black spec that appears on one of the mountains.
If you do it properly, you can capture the little guy and he gives you his
total fortune to let him go. HINT: listen to the sound, a high pitched
beep means he is on the top of the screen, a low one means hes at the bottom.

Auctions:
This is the main part of the game. Here is where you make or break yourself.
You have to learn to buy and sell the right amounts of things at the right
time. For example, sell your smithore when the store has run out, and there
are no more mules left. You will get 300 credits a bar rather than the normal
50.

Well, I do remember a few things from way back. Getting your own plots next
to each other increases production; so does having plots with the same product
next to each other. If you see a flashing black dot on a mountain, and manage
to move onto it in time, you can catch the Mountain Wumpus, and get $300 or
so. :-)  It's often a good idea to switch heavily to mining late in the game;
however, nothing is as profitable as having something that there is a
shortage of.  The river sites also are the best for food, logically enough;
I try and start with one of those first turn. Don't run out of energy, or
you won't produce anything.

You may not want to hunt the wampus, instead try to do your
installments as soon as possible and then go to saloon to win more money.
This reminds me of the fact that when choosing your land plots starting
from as close the village as you can will give you more time and that
way more money from saloon.
