Quest of Kings
--------------
By Howard Feldman
This is my first complete RPG for the C64. I have released it before in
.D64 format, but I found a slightly newer version. The only noticeable
difference is that you can save the game on a separate (non-game) disk
(I think...). Also, I've included the MONSTER CREATOR program I wrote and
used to create monsters for this game. This latter program was unreleased
until now. Now you can create and add you own monsters to the game!
(If you can figure out how... I'll be damned if I remember). NOTE: be
careful, you can easily overwrite the original monsters so make a copy of
the game disk before experimenting. The monster creator is in BASIC so load
with ,8.
I won't describe the game in great detail again, but briefly it is a one
character RPG in a 4-level dungeon. Combat is a la Bard's Tale and the
dungeon looks a bit like bard's tale too (1st person). There are a few
puzzles to solve and a magical crown to retrieve to win the game. The
only tricky thing that's not obvious is to open the view character
screen, hold down the joystick button and pull the joystick down (towards
you), then release the button. The game has a built-in background story
that you can read for more details. Enjoy the game!
